Bílovec was first mentioned in writing in 1324, when it belonged to Vok I of Kravaře. Bílovec Castle was remodelled in the Renaissance style around 1575 and given a Baroque redesign after a fire in 1729. The tower of St Nicholas's Church on Slezské náměstí has an observation gallery 31 metres above ground, reached by 143 steps. Andreas Buzowsky built the Renaissance town hall on Slezské náměstí in 1593.
