The village of Dobratice lies on the edge of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids. It lies by the Lučina stream.

The first written record of the village dates to 1580. The local school was founded in 1852. The Church of St Philip and St James was consecrated in 1865, and the village has had its own parish since 1868.
