The village of Dolní Tošanovice lies in the Těšínsko region, about 10 kilometres east of Frýdek-Místek. It is on the road towards Český Těšín. The settlement is documented as early as 1305.

An Empire-style chateau dating from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries was converted into a villa by doctor Vítězslav Chlumský in 1933; it is now privately owned.
