Flower delivery in Háj ve Slezsku from an Ostrava florist

Háj ve Slezsku lies on the right bank of the Opava between Opava and Ostrava. It comprises the parts of Háj, Chabičov, Jilešovice, Lhota and Smolkov. A railway line has run through the municipality since 1855; it was the former Northern Railway of Emperor Ferdinand.

The Church of St Valentine was built in 1911 and has been a cultural monument since 2015. Public rallies have been held on Ostrá hůrka, above the municipality, since 1869, and a memorial to the Silesian resistance stands there; it was restored in 1969. The writer Vladislav Vančura was born in Háj ve Slezsku in 1891.
